Tooth Fairy day

Malcolm shows off an adult tooth coming up in the new gap

Hooray! Malcolm lost his first baby tooth, about ten days after the adult tooth started to push up behind it, on Thanksgiving night. Given the busy holiday and the short notice (or lack thereof, more accurately), the Tooth Fairy paid a visit the following night, delivering a golden dollar coin, and leaving the tooth for Malcolm to keep. Malcolm was beside himself with utter joy. What a big day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

the Spencers, 2006

Yesterday we had our annual Christmas card family photo shoot in our backyard, which we recently transformed into a play area for the kids. Here's a sneak preview...

Baba visits!

Nora investigates a lizard

Malcolm riding his bike

Guy's mom, Barbara visited us a couple weekends ago and we all had a lovely time. We had a very nice family walk in Redwood Regional Park, where Nora collected acorns and made friends with a lizard, and later Barbara got to witness Malcolm's amazing skills on a bike. He started riding without training wheels in September and rides fearlessly, coming to skidding stops, tackling hills, and trying to pop wheelies.

Pumpkin patch, 2006

Nora checks out the Cinderella pumpkins

We had a great time at a pumpkin patch at a real farm with Malcolm's friends, Max and Ethan, and their families. Particularly entertaining: running through the scary haunted house (Malcolm's first); visiting the rather fragrant sows in their pen; and picking vegetables in the fields with the dads.

This Halloween Malcolm and Nora went trick-or-treating for the first time, with Malcolm as fantastically muscular Spider-Man and Nora as a lady in pajamas with a large purse (her choice!). They had a blast!

Malcolm's school pictures

Yippee!

Time to catch up after a lull. Malcolm is having a great autumn, flourishing in school as one of the big kids in his class, and learning many new tricks (see above). His school photos finally arrived -- check them out -- and Nora and I got to join in the fun.
