Nora with her shades

Keeping cool on Claribel
Finally, Malcolm and Nora got to meet (kind of) and ride on Thomas the Tank Engine. Malcolm was so excited to see Thomas puffing along the rails FOR REAL, when we went to A Day Our With Thomas last Saturday. The whole family went for a 25 minute ride, complete with a busker, a clown, streamers blowing in the wind, and Junior Conductor Certificates for the kids. The rest of the event, set up on a dusty roadside in an industrial feeling area (the parking lot was owned by Haliburton), was mostly geared towards purchasing huge amounts of Thomas gear, which I suppose wasn't surprising, but was a bit of a let down. We were expecting a more grandly art-directed fair with Sir Topham Hat and Mr. Conductor walking around, and perhaps stuff like face painting and cotton candy and ring tossing for Thomas trinkets. But the kids had a ball and want to go again, so I guess it was a success.
