Halloween preparations galore

We went to a really amazing neighborhood last night that goes all out with the spooky decorations for trick-or-treating. They even close off a cul-de-sac from traffic and throw a little block party, and our friends Carla and Dave host an annual Halloween party that's as much for the grown ups as for the kids. The kids made a killing with the loot. Here's to a sugar high that lasts for weeks!

The photo is of some terrific pumpkin paintings from Malcolm's classroom.

The choosing of the pumpkin is serious business, but perhaps not as much fun as playing with the boxes they ship in. Photo by Baba, who visited us last weekend and documented much of the proceedings.

Spoooooky!
